CSV Import
At Quotes, we’ve always aimed to support the diverse workflows of our users. Many of you already had your own systems for managing quotes before discovering Quotes, and we’ve heard your requests loud and clear—how can you bring your existing library into our app?
After introducing Kindle importing in our last update, we’re now adding CSV importing!
CSV is a universal file format supported by many tools. However, every software uses its own data structure and column names, making importing tricky. Traditionally, users either have to manually modify their CSV files to match the software’s specifications, or developers need to add specific support for every variation.
We believe we can make this process smoother.
With CSV Import, we’ve introduced a mapping tool that lets you drag and drop to match CSV fields to Quotes’ data structure. No coding, no headaches—just a few simple clicks to get your data where it needs to be.
For even faster importing, Quotes will automatically detect and apply mappings for known CSV formats. For example, we’ve added support for Readwise CSVs, and more formats are coming soon. Let us know which tools you’d like us to support next!
If your current tool doesn’t support CSV exports, don’t worry—we offer free data conversion tools and services for all licensed users of Quotes. Just reach out to us, and we’ll help you migrate your data effortlessly!
Keyboard Navigation
For power users who love keyboard shortcuts, Quotes just got even better. While most commands already had shortcuts, navigating the app wasn’t as fluid—until now.
With keyboard navigation, you can use Cmd + [ and Cmd + ] to move focus between different areas of the app. From there, use the arrow keys and Enter to select items.

Expanded Metadata
We’ve added a Public ID field to capture identifiers like ISBN, DOI, or ASIN for your sources. Don’t have a URL for your source? No problem! If you provide a valid ISBN-10 or ASIN, Quotes will automatically generate a link to the book’s Amazon page—handy for exploring related books or additional details.
Additionally, we’ve expanded source types and formats, now including options like audiobooks and paper formats.
More Flexible Pricing Options
When we talked to our users, we found that many appreciate a pricing option that’s more budget-friendly and flexible. They also value the reassurance that a subscription model offers—ensuring developers stick around to improve the app over time. We hear you!
With both yearly and monthly plans, Quotes is now more accessible than ever, while helping us keep bringing you the features and improvements you love for years to come. Now, you have the flexibility to choose what works best for you.
Website Updates
We’ve refreshed our 🏡 landing page, 🎓 knowledge base, and 🪵 changelog site to better reflect the latest features and improvements.
I want to highlight the knowledge base in particular. It’s been almost entirely rewritten to include updated guides, new tips, and detailed videos to help you get the most out of Quotes. Check it out, and let us know what you think!
